  1. After several songs in story tree time, i asked if kids wanted more songs. a little girl who had been singing along and playing with me said ” no i don’t think so” got up and then walked away. the other kids who were smaller were like- what happened. it was really cute and all the adults laughed.

  2. I spent 20 minutes in CiM with a gentleman looking to see if we had the Cincinnatian Hotel on our layout. We do! It was previously named Palace Hotel, built in 1882, with Samuel Hannaford as the architect. We had a really good conversation about differences in cities and how highways changed small towns. Then…. I spent another 20 minutes with a pair deciphering a photo on a woman’s phone figuring out what building we were even looking at and if it was even on the layout. The building, on 800 Broadway, is the Cincinnati Times-Star building today as the Hamilton County Juvenile Court and Probation building. The exasperating moment is that after all that I had to explain to them how Broadway has been pinched out of our layout. Ahh well. Searching the layout is still one of my favorite things to engage with in CiM.

  3. The last hour in the woods is dedicated to☆Friendship☆ A couple of girls met and were hanging out having a blast together. One girl’s dad ran into an old coworker and they had a good time reconnecting. She had her own girls playing in the Woods, so all four of the kids ended up hanging out and having a blast. They eventually moved to WW and I think first girl’s dad and the second dad exchanged information. I hope everybody meets up again outside of the museum.

  4. I was talking with a large family group that was hanging out in Cave Plaza, it was (I think) three sister and their spouces and kids. They were from Flordia, but had come to Cincinnati on vacation to avoid the Spring Break rush in Flordia. One of the moms told me that the kids said that CMC was the funest place they had ever been – except for Disney.

  5. Overheard Tori starting a stage show up and hearing “can I get a whoop whoop” and sporatically hearing “whoop whoop” coming from the office until the show started.

  6. Running Ordovician Observations I am used to kids grabbing for stuff and asking “What’s that?” When they grab a horn coral and ask, I like to say, “What do you think it looks like?” So they will say it looks like a tooth, or a claw, or something like that. Today I asked a kid that question and he looked at the horn coral and said, “A peach?”

I have to admit that no one has ever said it looks like a peach.

  8. During dance party there was a group of older kids stomp dancing, and at one point a little one who could barely walk started joining them in the stomp dancing. The oldest boy reached out his hands to grab the little boy’s hands they started stopping together and none of the new each other. It was adorable.

  9. I am not a huge baseball fan, but I had a great time today talking memories of Crosley Field and Reds Strait A ticket games at Riverfront Stadium.

  10. Was taking apart lego builds near the space ship.build in brictionary and ended up “helping” a young kid with building his space ship. Mostly he gave me pieces and told me what they were and how they worked.
The engine was made of marshmallow, the ship had two HUGE wheels – one made of marshmallow, one made of fire. The ship smells amazing when it’s flying. Also, even though you can’t see him baby Yoda is the pilot.

Really how can you have a bad day when you get to end it like this?

  11. This afternoon I had a kid, who must be a regular, ask why I didn’t have my hair in pigtails today. I told him I wear it all different ways. He said I should wear it in pigtails more because it makes me look like a pokemon.
