  1. On duty in the woods; a three year old carrying stacked cups from the diner almost as big as she is toddles up to the tank. Her eyes fill with wonder as she watches the red eared sliders swim. She looks at me and points to Bodhi.
    “A dog!!!”
    She then points at Myrtle.
    “A cat!!!”
I nod seriously. We are now best friends.

  2. Ann and I were doing a program with Louis and he had just made a perfect shed. The skin was sitting next to me as we talked about him. A little boy had come up to listen, and after a few minutes of staring he pointed at the skin and asked “what’s that wrapper from?” To which Ann answered “Louis!”

  4. A family came through AET with two little boys, one about five and the other couldn’t have been more than three. They’ve clearly been around art exhibits before though, and the two boys very thoroughly went up to every painting whispering “Wow…! Wow…!” through the entire exhibit. They kept the perfect distance from each picture and never touched, but very carefully pointed out their favorite parts to their grown ups. My favorite was the three year old forcibly dragging his mom up to “Divining Water,” pointing at the boulder and going “Ball!!,” tracing the lightning with his finger in the air, then pointing to the boulder again and repeating “A ball!!” They were very disappointed when they had to leave and return to the children’s museum.

  5. Today was doing the stage show (fireball as usual) and at the end a group of kids yelled “thank you Miss Samantha!”
